Easter/Anzac Day Weekend Schedule

Traditionally a long weekend, this year’s calendar has brought the Easter holiday weekend together with the Anzac Day memorial holiday as well.

Students and families are also off on school holidays,  making scheduling for classes at the Academy… well, interesting.

But for those of you who are around this holiday weekend and/or are wanting to keep your training somewhat on-track, we will be running classes on Saturday, 23rd April at 10:30 am  at the Grange Community Centre, in Hoppers Crossing and will resume classes again as from Tuesday evening (Anzac Day),  26th April at 7 pm again at the Grange CC.

There will be NO classes on Easter Monday, 25th April in Werribee.

Children’s classes will resume as from Thursday, 28th April.

All of us at the Qian Li Dao Academy wish you all safe and happy travels for the Easter/Anzac Day long weekend – see you back soon!

Kiwi Kudos

Congratulations to our Kiwi brothers and sisters in the Wellington, New Zealand area! Kiwi Dai Sihing Stu Dunn is celebrating six years of operation as the ONLY kung fu club on the Kapiti Coast on the North Island.

The occasion was noted this week in an article in the Kapiti News :

The two “culprits” responsible for spreading “the word” over there are Dai Sihing Stu Dunn (left) and Sihing Dean Baines (right).

And that’s the “tall and the short of it”!

Keep up the great work, guys – we’ll see you soon!

Gold Coin Training BBQ – April

Our quest for a NEW dragon has begun!

The first of our Gold Coin Training BBQ’s kicked off our campaign to raise some funds for a new dragon for our Dragon Dance Troupe. The weather threatened to cancel our day, with heavy rains and cold temps the day and night before, but in the end, good weather graced us on the day.

Although some who had planned to come didn’t make it, those who did had a great time as we started the day with a couple of hours of good training.

We built up a good appetite, and there was plenty on the menu – marinated skewers of beef and fish, other assorted meats, satays, salads, some fried rice and much more! Thanks to Carmen, Jimmy, La-Wren, Trevor and Wesh, as they manned the grills to get everything ready.

Wonderful aromas wafted through the air, teasing the taste buds and signalling what delights were to come. The food was great, the company exquisite – all who came had a fantastic day! The only problem on the day was an uncooperative bench, that needed some lessons in manners.

We needed Jackie Chan to help harness this disobedient creature, in his absence, La-Wren had to tame the beast! To see what happened, you’ll have to visit the Image Gallery, and to find out why this all came to pass, you’ll just have to make sure you attend the next Gold Coin Training BBQ (date to be announced soon)!!!
